The month of August has been pretty eventful for Android users thanks to the release of Fortnite. Although this blockbuster game pretty much eclipsed all other games that have arrived in August, we’d still like to give some love to the most outstanding games of the month. After all, the world doesn’t revolve around Fortnite, and this August has presented us with a goody bag full of high-quality titles that we can’t help but recommend. So, without further ado, we leave you with the best Android games of the month of August.
Kung Fu Z
We’ve seen clickers of all shapes and sizes imaginable, but we have to admit that Kung Fu Z has surprised us. It’s a total beat ’em up in disguise that offers retro-style visuals and is a whole lot of fun. Plus, it has a thousand and one collectibles so all you digital pack rats can jump for joy. [Download]
Hags Castle!
A wicked witch is waiting for you in a castle full of evil traps and creatures. Can you get to her? We don’t know if you’ll be successful or not, but Hags Castle! is a real trip that takes inspiration from the classic first-person adventures, all without giving up the typical characteristics of current mobile devices. It’s a pretty long game that provides a sort of challenge that we’re not too used to seeing on Android. [Download]
Bloons Adventure Time TD
Fans of Bloons TD are going to find the best crossover ever: the world of Adventure Time is the setting where you get to play with legendary characters like Finn, Jake, and the rest of the gang from the Land of Ooo. Fans of tower defense games just found a real gem that you won’t want to miss. And if you don’t believe us, just check out our gameplay video. [Download]
SEGA Heroes
This puzzle game with hints of RPG is here to remind us of the days when we said SEEEEGAAAA. SEGA Heroes is a tribute to the classics from the company, where you face hordes and hordes of enemies in order to collect gems. We’ve already seen this gameplay in a thousand other games, but not with this list of characters that are as charismatic as they are colorful. [Download]
Unlikely Heroes
We should really show some more appreciation for roguelites, games that take the gameplay from roguelikes, without being too overwhelming. Unlikely Heroes is a beautiful role-playing game that’s inspired by Adventure time and that provides you with a diverse and fun adventure. You can’t go wrong with a game with hexagons. [Download]
Bendy in Nightmare Run
We’ve always loyally defended endless runners and now, even though the genre is saturated beyond measure, we’ll still continue to do so as long as we keep finding gems like Bendy in Nightmare Run. It’s an endless runner that embraces the visual style of Cuphead, bringing back the black and white style of the 1930’s to give us intense battles against final bosses in a different way than we’re used to seeing in this genre. Pocket City Free
Here we have one of the top releases of the year: a strategic management title without the typical wait times the genre is known for. Pocket City has surprised us with this concept that’s far from the current standards of the market, which is great news for the medium. This free version doesn’t have all the same features as the paid one, but it’s still a fantastic experience for anyone who liked the idea of building the city of their dreams. [Descargar]
Survival Heroes
You already know how much we loved Survival Heroes if you read our blog. We’ve given quite a bit of attention to this game, but it’s not every day that we find a mix of genres that works this well: Battle Royale and MOBA go hand in hand in this hectic game. Just take a look at our gameplay video if you want to see it in action. [Download]
PUBG MOBILE LITE
PUBG has joined the world of slimmed down versions with this PUBG Mobile LITE that’s created specially for less powerful devices. Although the map is smaller, and only 40 people can play in each round, the experience pretty much stays the same and now, players from all over the world can join in on the fun with this game that started the Battle Royale fever. Fortnite
We couldn’t wrap up this selection without talking about the game of the year. Fortnite has grabbed everyone’s attention with its dramatic arrival on Android, but we can finally say that it’s here. It still has some work to do, but we can’t forget that it is still in beta. It’s a shame not everyone can enjoy it yet, but you can always check out any of these alternatives to get a similar experience.
