The arcade genre has found its perfect home in the form of mobile videogames. Not only for the typical characteristic of quick short rounds, but for the wide variety of different styles you can find. The term “arcade” covers everything from the latest title from Ketchapp where simplicity is everything, to complex games like Time Locker. Here, the important thing is to get as far as possible and earn more and more points. With this premise in mind, we bring you five new arcade games that are crushing it on both iOS and Android.

Sling Drift

We’ve gotten used to associating the phrase “Ketchapp game” with small-scale games with great execution. We could say exactly the same thing about Sling Drift, a nice little arcade disguised as a car game where you’ll drift your way around endless race tracks. When you touch the screen, you’ll grab onto a post in the center of the curve to drift around it and continue on your way. Your vehicle will literally throw out a sort of lasso to do this. It’s incredible how such simple titles have the ability to be so addicting. It’s an achievement that deserves some recognition for its creators, tastypill.  [Download]

Draw In

The name Supertapx is beginning to sound familiar thanks to successful games like Love Balls and the likable Draw In. There are people who are starting to call it the new VOODOO, although luckily, we don’t have to put up with as many ads with this developer. Draw In is probably the simplest game of all the ones on this list. Your one and only task is to touch the screen to create a line that’s long enough to wrap around the circumference of the image you see on the screen. It’s one of those games that will have even the youngest members of the family hooked. [Download]

Kick The Buddy

Calling Kick The Buddy an arcade game is tricky, but it would be a mistake not to mention this curious mix of genres that’s been a huge success everywhere it goes. It’s a game where your objective is to simply hit a rag doll with all sorts of different objects. There’s an enormous catalog of weapons just waiting to be used on your unfortunate little friend and that will continue to boost your score with each attack. The idea behind the game is to see how many different ways you can torture your poor Buddy, and just FYI: there are a LOT. It’s hard to say who the target audience is for this gruesome game, but the sheer number of downloads reveal that there are plenty of people enjoying it. [Download]

Helix Jump

VOODOO has been hanging out on the list of most downloaded games for a good while thanks to its adoption of the Ketchapp motto: less is more. And this would be great news if it weren’t for the immense number of ads that we have to put up with from every game from VOODOO. Helix Jump is, without a doubt, one of its most popular titles. It’s a work that has you try to get a ball to bounce its way to the lowest part of the screen. However, this action isn’t as easy as it sounds – each level below you has a random opening, along with different obstacles that will aim to ruin you. Just a heads up, you’ll see the game over screen more times than you can count. [Download]

Rise Up

Playing Rise Up gives us a slight feeling of déjà vu. Your goal in the game is to prevent any and all objects from touching your balloon and preventing it from rising upward. To do this, you’ll have a sort of shield to move the obstacles out of the way and protect your ascending balloon. The game couldn’t be simpler but its randomly generated levels make it nearly impossible to survive for very long. If you take a look at our gameplay video, you’ll see that we weren’t the best at it, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a fun game with enough variety to make it addictive. [Download]
