There’s no doubt that Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is one of the most highly-anticipated mobile video games of 2023, although Activision has not yet given an exact release date for its definitive version. However, even though everyone is dying to try out this new free battle royale, there’s one big question that fans of the saga are asking: what will happen to the Call of Duty: Mobile that can already be downloaded and played for free on phones?

What’s the difference between the two Call of Duty mobile games?

The arrival of the new mobile Call of Duty game may be a bit confusing for a lot of players, since Call of Duty: Mobile has already been around for a few years, bringing the classic shooting game to iOS and Android. However, this new Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is going to offer a new way to play online: the experience revolves around battle royale gameplay, a popular free-for-all mode in which only one player (or team) can be left standing.

The new Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is focused entirely on battle royale modes, one in pairs and the other in four-player teams, while the Call of Duty: Mobile that we all know and love is going to continue focusing on direct team-based combat. That said, the new game will also have its own 6v6 maps, although it will be an additional experience to the battle royale, which will be the main game mode.

Will Call of Duty: Mobile disappear after Warzone Mobile is released?

One of the questions that the Call of Duty: Mobile community has regarding the launch of the new game is whether or not the old game will disappear since a lot of people prefer to continue playing the original game instead of making the leap to Call of Duty: Warzone. In theory, they have nothing to worry about: Activision has given no indication that Call of Duty: Mobile is going to disappear. In fact, they continue to announce new seasons with additional content and battle passes. Whether one of the two will replace the other in the future is impossible to know, as it hasn’t been officially confirmed or denied.

Will there be cross-progress between the two games?

Thus, Activision’s intention is to keep both projects alive. Call of Duty: Mobile and Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will coexist, each offering a different style. That leaves us with another unknown: will there be cross-play and shared progress between the two? This is something we know for sure, since those responsible for the new game have confirmed that Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will have cross-progression with the big console games, such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but not with the other mobile game. That is, whatever you’ve achieved throughout this time in Call of Duty: Mobile (weapons, for example) will not be transferred to the new game.

When will Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile be released?

This is the last big question that every Call of Duty fan is asking right now: when will Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile be released? At the moment, this long-awaited video game does not have an exact release date. It was first expected to be available in late 2022, but now it turns out that its worldwide arrival has been postponed and is not expected to be ready until sometime in 2023. The iOS App Store, for example, lists its expected arrival date as May 15 next year.

In the meantime, as what usually happens with major mobile releases, Activision has organized a registration campaign that allows players to sign up ahead of time to receive a notification when Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is available and play it as soon as it comes out. This can be done through the official website of the battle royale and, in addition, if you do so, you’ll get some special rewards. Also, while you wait, you can check the minimum requirements you’ll need to play it on your phone.
