Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, the free battle royale developed by Activision, will finally make its big debut on smartphones this year. It’s going to be launched progressively by regions, and there are some countries where it can already be played. That’s why we already know a lot of the new features that are coming to this long-awaited video game in 2023. Below, we’ll tell you all of them, including the ones that have been officially announced, as well as those that have been leaked in the community.

What is Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile?

Warzone Mobile is a mobile version of the successful free battle royale Call of Duty. In it, players participate in huge battles against other players in which only one team or pair can be left standing. It also has team-based head-to-head modes, as well as weapon customization, operators, battle passes, etc. It has nothing to do with the existing Call of Duty: Mobile but is instead a completely new game.

Warzone Mobile confirmed news

Currently, Warzone Mobile is in limited release, which means that only some regions can access an unfinished version of the final game. This is for controlled testing of content and connection quality, implying that the experience is less complete than it’ll end up being. Below, you’ll find all the content that’s been confirmed so far:

New battle pass for Season 2 of Warzone Mobile

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is already part of the Call of Duty universe and shares progress with the big main games of the saga, so the new Season 2 battle pass is also available in the mobile game. This new battle pass includes new weapons such as KV Broadside, ISO Hemlock, and Dual Kodachis blades. It also includes Ronin, a new unlockable operator, and much more in its 100 levels.

Although the theme is exactly the same as the rest of the Call of Duty games, the Warzone Mobile Battle Pass in the second season is currently more limited because the game is still in a trial phase. In addition, it includes new features such as a new Hardpoint mode, improvements to the Verdansk battle royale map, and other changes within its season update. Another new feature included in this huge patch is the translation into Spanish, French, and other languages, making the game more accessible to a greater number of players.

Confirmed game modes

In the trial version of Warzone Mobile, which is currently only available in Australia and Sweden, there are two main game modes: battle royale and team multiplayer. In turn, these two game modes are subdivided into other modes; for example, battle royale can be played in 20-minute squad-based matches or 10-minute matches in pairs. For the time being, there is no single-player battle royale.

The team-based multiplayer mode of Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile currently has two versions: Deathmatch and Domination. Each of them has its own rules and objectives, but both take place on the same two maps available so far: Scrapyard and Superstore. Activision has already confirmed that at least one more new map, Shoot House, will be introduced due to the large number of people who have pre-registered for the game (more than 35 million).

In addition to these two game modes, there are two more modes: missions and challenges. Both are aimed at obtaining new items such as weapons, skills, or equipment in general. The tasks will give you points you can exchange for objects, while the challenges will encourage you to play in a certain way to obtain new sets as a reward.

Cross-progress with Modern Warfare 2

One of the great features of Warzone Mobile is that much of its content can be used in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and vice versa, so all the progress you make in the game on consoles and computers can also be seen and used in the mobile game. It has been confirmed that both experiences will have a shared battle pass, in the same way that the player level and the progress of each weapon will be maintained.

Confirmed features: voice chat, friends list…

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is a multiplayer experience, so that means it’s pretty much mandatory for it to have some basic features to help users create a social connection with other players and friends. Activision has already confirmed that the game will offer voice chat and channels, as well as a feature that will allow players to create groups of up to six players to play together. During the limited release, more similar features will be added along with other types of features. For example, it has been confirmed that it will be possible to customize weapons in the Gunsmith.

Warzone Mobile leaks: weapons, characters, vehicles…

Since the game is already available in some regions, users who are already testing it out are sharing the content that’s being added and which is not officially reported (because it’s subject to change). Thanks to these leaks, we know about the existence of new operators, such as Shredder from the Ninja Turtles, who will also be available in Warzone Mobile, as he’s already included in the main Call of Duty installments.

New features have also already been revealed, such as the possibility of having a garage of customizable vehicles, as well as new weapons also with skins that have not been officially announced. Warzone Mobile beta updates also refer to features that are not yet available but may end up coming to the game, such as a third-person camera, the possibility of using the gyroscope, or the integration of a proximity voice chat.

Warzone Mobile release date and upcoming betas

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is still in the testing phase, with a version available only in some regions (specifically Australia and Sweden, although it is expected to soon reach other countries in Europe and Latin America, such as Brazil). Activision’s intention is to launch the game sometime in 2023, although they haven’t yet confirmed when. Before that final release, they’ll have to perform different betas in multiple regions, so you’ll be able to play it on your phone before it’s officially released.
