Rdio, an online music streaming service, has just launched a free trial that allows you to access its entire catalog without any ads for six full months. The offer comes in conjunction with the international launch of the product.
Rdio is an online music-streaming service, similar to Spotify and Grooveshark, with a catalog of more than 18 million songs that you can organize into playlists and share with your friends on social networks. You can also link it to the songs that are stored locally on your computer, turning it into the ultimate music player for your entire music library.
Once you register, you will be given a 6-month, ad-free trial at no cost (a week for its mobile version), although a green bar in the upper portion of the screen will tell you your monthly playback limit. If you reach the limit, you’ll have to wait until the next month. This marketing strategy is a good excuse to try the service out without any obligation. If you like it, the service offers a monthly subscription for $4.99 with unlimited music streaming, and $9.99 per month if you also want to use it on your mobile device.
Rdio doesn’t require you to install a desktop program to use it, although it does have a native program for Windows and Mac, as well as the many mobile platforms.
