You could probably say the classic horror theme that brought us vampires, zombies, and other creatures of the night is now a little bit overdone in the world of videogames. However, there are companies like Nitrome that know how to change things up to offer us products that deserve a round of applause. Our office would gladly be ones to start the slow clap to commend Turn Undead 2, the sequel to the fantastic puzzle game disguised as a platformer. While in the original title you had to hunt Dracula, it’s now come time to travel to Egypt and overthrow the Mummy King.

Turn Undead 2

We’ve already talked at great length about just how much we love games from Nitrome. However, we have no other choice but to fall for this developer and editor of titles with old-school looks and innovative development. If you think about destroying undead creatures in videogames, the first thing that comes to mind is probably an action title, or maybe even an RPG. But not a puzzle game where each move counts. And that’s exactly what Turn Undead 2 brings us.

Turn Undead 2

This sequel doesn’t change things up too much in respect to the original. Time in the game advances as you move to try to get out of each one of the screens. Your hunter is back with the wooden stake shooter that helps you destroy enemies and overcome obstacles. You have to discover the unique characteristics of each one of your enemies in order to act accordingly: some will move twice as fast as you, others will get back up after being defeated, etc.

Turn Undead 2

Turn Undead 2 is back with the same retro pixelated style that we love so much. The game’s backgrounds are better made than in the first installment and it also offers more interesting puzzles. Anyone who liked Turn Undead is definitely going to enjoy this sequel. It’s yet another title to add to the long list of quality games put out by Nitrome.
