The announcement of the release of a Diablo game for mobile devices has rocked the videogame world. All controversies aside, the arrival of Diablo Immortal is great news for the mobile medium. It’s not everyday that a franchise of this caliber appears, although it is true that we’re getting used to the fact that it can happen (we’re looking at you, Command & Conquer). While we await the arrival of this Blizzard title on Android, we’ve prepared a selection of the best RPG and action games to make the wait a little bit easier.
Heretic Gods – Ragnarok
Nordic mythology is always nice to see and in Heretic Gods, you’re going to be able to experience it head on. This action RPG set in viking legends, makes it clear that its main reference is Diablo. That means its experience is very similar to what we see in the Blizzard saga. It’s a fun title where each game is different thanks to the fact that the dungeons are randomly generated. [Download]
Torchlight: The Legend Continues
The Torchlight saga came into existence as an alternative to Diablo, and as time has gone on, it’s managed to garner a great number of followers. This chapter, exclusively for smartphones, is closer to the MMO standards for the medium, but still maintains the original essence that brought it success: a fool-proof gameplay, steampunk ambiance, and a colorful look. FLARE RPG
Even though FLARE has a simpler look than the rest of the games on this list, this classic is a real must-have for fans of the genre. It’s an open source port for Android that adapts perfectly to touchscreens. It’s probably one of the most similar games to Diablo that you can enjoy directly on your smartphone or tablet. [Download]
Triglav
It’s not everyday we come across action RPGs played vertically, but Triglav is a real classic that we can’t push aside. Released initially in 2002 as an online game, this interesting work is directly inspired by the original Diablo. Instead of descending from a church until you reach hell itself, here you have an entire 50-floor tower that you have to climb up. It’s a game with strange, somewhat outdated graphics, and three different classes to master. [Download]
Dungeon Legends
Pure and simple dungeon crawling is what you’ll find in Dungeon Legends, a game that nicely adapts the gameplay of Diablo and Torchlight to the mobile world. Short and intense phases where you have to defeat tons of enemies as you collect all the loot you can along the way. You don’t always have the opportunity to play a dwarf and here you’re going to enjoy it to the fullest between the hammer blows you deliver to the evil hordes. [Download]
Darkness Reborn
It’s easy to get lost among the endless quality games that come out of Asia, especially when talking about ARPGs. Although we have tons of games in this genre and its MMO side, the truth is that we really like Darkness Reborn a lot. It’s not that it’s incredibly innovative, but it does everything well and offers different online game modes. It’s a noteworthy title, something that we can’t say about 70% of the Android catalog. Crusaders of Light
There’s a lot of talk about how similar Diablo Immortal is to this game, as explained by Polygon. We don’t know if these similarities will be in the game’s final version but what we do know for sure is that Crusaders of Light is an excellent game. It’s an MMOARPG with colorful and spectacular graphics that will accompany you throughout tons of adventures. And these adventures can be experienced solo, along with loads of other people, or against them. [Download]
