There are a bunch of great companies that work tirelessly to offer you even more incredible games within the Android universe. However, we recommend checking out what the independent videogame studios are up to once in a while.  Although they could sometimes fly under the radar, awards like Indie Games Showcase try to make sure the best of the best don’t go unnoticed. These awards, presented by Google Play, shine a light on games created by small companies in Europe, South Korea, and Japan. We took a look at the list of the 20 European finalists and bumped into STAP (pun totally intended). The game is based on a simple gameplay which is what makes it totally addicting.

Great visuals and a really unique soundtrack

STAP was created in the United Kingdom. Although it’s still under development, it already includes all the elements to keep you entertained for a good while. Joao P. Ruschel and Camila Canani from the Overhead Game Studio were in charge of designing and programming this super entertaining arcade. The visuals of the game might remind you a lot of some of the Ketchapp factory games. The 3D visuals will submerge you inside a city that’s full of intersecting roads.

Music is another element that stands out in this game. The music in each level won’t annoy you when your screen is full of cars. As you continue advancing through the city, it’ll get harder and harder to avoid collisions in each of the intersections.

Anticipating the moves is essential in STAP

Controls in STAP are very simple. As each car comes closer to the intersection, tap on it to make it stop. By doing so, you’ll free the lane for the rest of the cars. The tricky part comes when a good number of cars bunch up in the main area of the screen. Anticipating each situation and looking in all directions is essential if you want to avoid a multiple car collision. You can go on to the next level when you complete the fraction located on the lower side of the screen.

As you continue advancing through the different intersections of the map, more roads and lanes will be added to increase the complexity of the game. The city includes forest, houses, an ice cream shop, a police station, and a supermarket. You’ll have to drive by all these elements until you reach the last traffic cone where you’ll have to prove that you’re a master at controlling traffic. Plus, future updates will most likely increase the number of levels.

Basic fun

To sum it all up, STAP is one of those low-budget games that seek to entertain you with a simple objective. After a couple of rounds, you’ll probably be reminded of games like Traffic Run! which was downloaded by millions of users around the world. The main difference is that you won’t have to worry about as many traffic-related elements this time. We’ll just have to wait to see if Overhead Game Studio will get an award at the Indie Games Showcase 2019 final ceremony.
