If there’s one release that the mobile gaming community is especially looking forward to, it’s definitely Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile. The popular free battle royale from Activision will make the leap to smartphones with new modes and a more refined gameplay, although what we still don’t know is when it’ll make its appearance. In some countries, like Australia, it’s already in its testing phase, which is how we already know the minimum requirements devices need to have in order to run the game smoothly. We’ll tell you everything we know below.

What is Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile?

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is a mobile version of the popular free battle royale from Activision. It’s a first-person shooter that’ll challenge you to become the sole survivor in rounds involving 120 players. These take place on the huge open map of Verdansk, a legendary setting that’s been adapted to phones while maintaining its most iconic points of interest. You’ll have to know it well in order to find shelter when the limits of the map start shrinking; otherwise, it’ll be game over for you.

How is it different from the Call of Duty that’s already available for phones?

You may be wondering how this new game differs from the Call of Duty that already exists for mobile devices, which is actually pretty popular. Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile offers a lot of new features and changes, including a refined gameplay that’s better for playing on mobile devices, a new battle royale-style game structure with a large open map and cross-progression with the two big Call of Duty games for consoles and computers, allowing you to share experience, objects and progress in a connected universe.

When will Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile be officially released?

This is one of the big questions that Call of Duty fans are asking: what’s the release date for Warzone Mobile? Unfortunately, the answer is still uncertain: as typically happens with mobile games, Activision is conducting tests in specific regions to improve the new battle royale, so for the time being, there’s no exact release date. It’ll continue to reach new countries and markets with preview versions and eventually, a major official release is expected to happen sometime in 2023.

Is it possible to play Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile right now?

Although Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile has not yet been officially released, some people are already playing it and sharing images and videos on social media. How is this possible? This is because Activision is in full testing phase, meaning that they’ve released the game in some markets: it’s currently available in Australia, so there are people from all over the world using accounts from that country to get early access to Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile. Some are even using VPNs to be able to download the game for free as if they were living there.

Official requirements for playing Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile on iOS and Android

To prepare players for its official release, as well as for all those who can already play it, Activision has already published the list of basic requirements for playing Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile. This is a series of minimum features that your iOS or Android phone must have if you want to play the battle royale. Of course, it’s okay if your device surpasses these requirements; in fact, it should work better in that case.

These are the minimum requirements to play Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile right now:

  • iOS: iPhone 8+ or higher.
  • Android: a device with Adreno 618 or higher.
  • Memory: a device with at least 3GB RAM.

What happens if your phone doesn’t meet these requirements? Nothing, since these features are the minimum necessary to play right now when the game is still in the testing phase. Activision may end up changing the requirements and, in fact, ensures that they will do so soon in order to make Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile compatible with older and lower-end devices. You may not be able to play it right now, but the requirements may be lowered in the future, so pay attention.
