There are lots of tools out there for viewing and modifying the content of your smartphone or tablet from your desktop, but in the present case, the procedure is even simpler: once you’ve installed the SnapPea app on your Android you can download, add, or remove photos, videos, contacts, messages, and apps directly from your PC. What’s more, the transfer goes both ways; in other words, you can download files to your computer and send them to your device directly from there.
The setup process is very simple. After installing the app it will ask you to log in (you can use your Google+ account for this if you want). Then, with both the Android device and the desktop computer connected to the same network (or connected via a USB cable), you have to go to the webpage snappea.com/web. There you’ll need to log in with the same details you used on the app.
That will give you access to the different sections of SnapPea, divided into four main sections.
- Photo viewer: You can view any photos and videos stored on your device in their original resolution, with the option to delete, rotate, or download them locally, or even add new photos stored on your PC.
- Messages: You can view all your sent and received SMS and MMS messages, as well as send them directly from your PC.
- Contacts: You can view the info for all the contacts stored on your device, and also edit or delete them.
- Apps: You’ll see all the apps installed on your device, with the option to uninstall or download them locally in APK format. Likewise, you can install an app to the device from an APK saved on the computer.
Although this post exclusively discusses the web version, SnapPea also has desktop clients for Windows and Mac with even more options, such as the ability to export music and connect to third-party app repositories.
