A few days ago Facebook held an important presentation event where, among other things, it was announced that Facebook Messenger will broaden its horizons by adding the possibility to integrate external apps into the chat service. Tools to send animated GIFs, add filters to your videos, or create photo compositions are some of the features you can include. Here’s a smattering.

All the tools listed are accessible right from the Facebook Messenger app by dropping down the right context menu to insert attachments. As you install new apps, you’ll get new shortcuts for each.

GIPHY [Download]

The wet dream of anyone obsessed with looping animations. Giphy lets you insert loads of animated GIFs into your chats from a large library organized by themes, whether they be specific reactions or TV series.

The famous chatterbox cat has also been added to the list. This one’s quite simple: record your voice and an animation will be generated where the cat gesticulates to the sound of what you’re saying.

Magisto Shot [Download]

Another app for fans of montages. You select a static image and a ‘mood’ that corresponds to a template for an animation, then add a phrase and in a few seconds it will generate a video that you can send to your contacts.

FlipLip [Download]

Where Magisto Shot adds effects to photos, FlipLip does the same thing with small videos, letting you put your head into different templates that twist up your face or put you in the skin of a princess – essential effects for your average user.
