Primogems are fundamental in Genshin Impact. With them, you can make wishes to get characters and weapons in the gacha system. While the HoYoverse (formerly known as miHoYo) RPG allows you to buy these coins with real money —if you buy Genesis Crystals, you can exchange them for a Primogem—, there are also many ways to get free Primogems without having to pay for them. In this way, you can acquire Acquaint Fate and Intertwined Fates to use to make wishes.
All ways to get Primogems for free
Below you can see all the methods to get Primogems in Genshin Impact, although you should keep in mind that many of them —such as the Archon Quests or the Adventurer Handbook quests— can only be obtained once per account:
- Playing: Simply by playing, you can get Primogems as one of the basic rewards of Genshin Impact.
- Performing daily missions: Starting at level 12, you can do four of these simple missions daily to get 10 Primogems in each. After completing all of them, talk to Katheryne at the Adventurers’ Guild to get 20 more free Primogems.
- Completing Archon or Story Quests: Each mission rewards you with 60 Primogems, and you can get a few more at the end of each episode.
- Completing quest objectives in the Adventurer Handbook: For each completed episode, you get 50-100 Primogems.
- Unlocking new teleportation points: This way, you will get 5 Primogems.
- Unlocking new achievements: Once you have obtained an achievement, you can go to the “Achievements” menu to redeem rewards ranging from 5 to 20 Primogems.
- Searching for chests in Teyvat: The world of Genshin Impact is full of chests. By opening them, you can get from 2 Primogems —common chest— or between 10 and 40 Primogems —rare chests—.
- Testing an event character: Every time a new character arrives, you will be able to try it for free. These are very short quests that award 20 Primogems as a reward.
- Participating in temporary events: The quests and challenges of these events usually reward you with up to 400 free Primogems. They are typically released together with an update.
- Doing all the tutorials: Each rewards you with 1 Primogem.

How to redeem codes in Genshin Impact

- Log in at the top right using the same account you play with.
- Choose your usual server.
- Enter the code and click on “Redeem”.
- Now open the game and look for the “Mail” section in the menu to claim the rewards.

- Open the main menu of Genshin Impact and look for “Settings” —the gear icon—.
- Go to the “Account” section and tap on the “Redeem Code” option.
- Enter the code and tap “Redeem Now”.
- Once successfully redeemed, go to the “Mail” section to claim the rewards.
