Last Survival War-Apocalypse

Although many have said that the golden age of zombie games is behind us, the truth is that there are still lots of great titles coming out in the genre. It might be true that the living dead are a bit past their prime, but when a great new game comes out you’ve got to give it recognition. Last Survival War-Apocalypse takes inspiration from Last Day on Earth, and it has a great story mode that slowly reveals the details about what caused the apocalypse. And it’s pretty darn good. red

We’ve been talking about games by Bart Bonte a lot lately, and for good reason: the Belgian developer has been gaining notoriety for his simple but well made games. red is the sequel to the award-winning yellow, and in many ways it’s more of the same: small but incredibly imaginative puzzles that fill your screen with the color red. HeadShot ZD

Ok, so there’s another zombie game. It might feel like Groundhog’s Day, but this title is deserving of much more attention that it’s getting. It’s an interesting mix of strategy and action that has you juggling resource management and hordes of enemies that you have to escape. If you’re tired of simple games that are too easy and straightforward, try out HeadShot ZD. [Download]

Dungeon Survivor II

An out of control old school RPG is the best description of this game which will turn you into a glutton for punishment. The game has a hint of the great title Darkest Dungeon, in which you creep ever closer to danger and possible death with each step you take. Literally, since you have to prepare your team for each mission in order to survive it and advance in the game. Take care to manage your food reserves, since without them you won’t last long. Super Hero Fight Club

It isn’t easy to find battles as absurdly entertaining as the ones in Super Hero Fight Club. We wish we could have been present during the brainstorming sessions that lead to this game, because it has to have been interesting. The game features fights between two characters that use jetpacks to fly around a stage filled with deadly traps, and all you can control is the direction in which they fly. And the fun doesn’t stop there, since the characters are an amalgamation of pop culture, video games, and movies from the 80s. Plus an incredible visual style and electro-wave sound track that is seriously addictive. [Download]

Bluebird of Happiness

Frequent readers of this blog will know that we love to discover games that got lost in the enormous Android catalog. Bluebird of Happiness appears to be an innocent pixelated adventure, but it has a dark underside that you’ll discover as you advance through the game’s little puzzles. The game is reminiscent of the masterpiece Undertale and you shouldn’t miss out on it. [Download]

Brown Dust

It’s absolutely crazy just how many Asian RPGs are added to the Android catalog each week. They’re all cut from the same great mold and most of them have little gameplay surprises that are praiseworthy in one way or another. Brown Dust stands out among them thanks to its enormous turn base battles in which you have to balance the pros and cons of each of your characters and enemies to come out victorious. It’s an excellent title with an excess of the usual fanservice that comes with this kind of title. [Download]

Slime Pizza

We love Nitrome, and we love the games that they delight us with every now and again. Slime Pizza is their latest release, and in it you live through the misadventures of a gelatinous character that has to collect lost slices of pizza. Sure, it’s a strange preposition, but it’s a great chance to enjoy carefully designed levels in which you have to calculate your sticky movements well if you want to survive. [Download]

DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY OPERA OMNIA

The world has discovered a lot about RPGs from the classic Final Fantasy games from Square Enix and this title is a celebration of all of them. It’s a return to the classic turn based battles of yesteryear in a homage to the Final Fantasy universe in which you recruit all of the most charismatic characters from the various entries in the saga. It features incredible graphics and truly entertaining gameplay. Not to mention the cast, since it isn’t every day that you can bring Vivi, Cloud, Tidus, and Terra together into the same group. Super Senso

We’ve already spoken at length about Super Senso, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t going to recommend it again in this little list. It’s not yet clear whether or not it will fulfill its destiny as the next Clash Royale or Hearthstone, but it is clear that it has what it takes. Exciting PvP battles with a level of strategy never before seen on the platform. All of that plus a healthy amount of giant robots, which as we all know make everything better. If you don’t believe us, check out this gameplay video. [Download]
