You are charged when you purchase a phone number ($1.99 in the U.S., and $1.99 and up anywhere else in the world), and once you exceed a certain number of minutes or text messages, you have to pay again. You can also pay using direct debit from a bank account. The $1.99 fee includes 20 minutes of talk and 60 text messages. As an alternative, for $7 you can buy a line with $5 of credit included. The prices vary depending on where you buy them. So, for example, if you buy a number in Greece, then you will be using the pricing and networks in Greece.
Something important to highlight about this app is that it doesn’t use VoIP like Google Voice and Skype do. So, what you get is the closest thing to a real, local phone line. You can also use it on any device as a data plan for connecting to the Internet, such as with your tablet or Android device.
The company decided to first enter the Android market because in its point of view it is the most popular internationally, and the app had more than 2000 downloads in the first 24 hours. It is already available in more than 40 countries, including places like Mexico, Latvia, Holland, Japan, and Spain.
