One of WhatsApp’s biggest shortcoming in comparison with Telegram or Facebook Messenger is the lack of the option to use the ever-popular stickers. Well, the time has finally come to even the playing field. The latest version of WhatsApp beta now includes the possibility to use sticker galleries in our conversations. The only requirement is to have the latest beta version installed, v2.18.329.
From the get go, there are 12 sticker packs available: Cuppy, Salty, Komo, Bibimbap Friends, Unchi & Rollie, Shiba Inu, The Maladroits, Koko, Hatch, Fearless Fabulous, Banana and Biscuit, many being recycled directly from Telegram. Eventually, you’ll also be able to install external sticker packs, although for now this feature isn’t available, as the app redirects to Google Play packs that don’t integrate with the app.
In order to use the stickers it’s not necessary for all the members of the conversation to have the beta version, so even if you use the stable client, you can still see the stickers sent by other users. To find them, you just have to tap the emoji icon and there, you’ll see the new stickers section next to the GIF option. You can add the packs you want to your list of most used, delete the ones you don’t want, or manage your favorites list.
We still don’t know when this feature will be included in the standard Android client, but there’s no risk or downside to using the beta. The beta version is stable enough to use it regularly and this way, you can make sure you’re one of the first to enjoy all the newest features.
