There’s no doubt that the International Mobile Gaming Awards are one of the most important awards for any mobile videogame. About a month ago, we talked about all the nominees and now it’s time to honor the winners. On March 19, various accolades were awarded to the top games at a ceremony held in San Francisco. So without further ado, we bring you the list of all the winners.
Awards for the best mobile games
Among the 153 nominees, 16 different awards were handed out, although the three most important are the Grand Prix, Jury’s Honorable Mention, and the People’s Choice Award. What’s interesting about the IMGAs is that it’s not only based on games that have been released for iOS and Android. There are also awards for works that are still in development. This makes for the utmost variety in terms of the winning games.
Best mobile game – Grand Prix
Mountains has been one of the most relevant studios of the last year, given that Florence has been picking up awards all over the place. It’s cleaned up in all the mobile game categories in 2018 and 2019 and it’s been nominated in even more, where it’s competed with works for consoles and PC. It’s no wonder, since Florence is an excellent videogame in every way. Play it as soon as you can.
Jury’s Honorable Mention
We’ve been waiting for the release of Flipping Filip, but the game is still playing hard to get. Its fantastic cartoon visual style promises to bring us hours of good fun. It’s a multiplatform title that doesn’t currently have any plans to appear on Android, although we hope it does end up making its way to our favorite platform.
People’s Choice Award
We lose track of all the time management games that exist on Android. Especially the ones that bring the action to the kitchen. Cooking Diary could be one more to add to this endless list, but the title has found a way to make a name for itself with its simple and direct message: do things the right way. We’re not talking about a game that’s going to go down in history for its innovation, but the rounds in Cooking Diary go like clockwork. Each of its elements is precisely located, making each cooking service in the game an exercise in supreme finger dexterity. If you’re still not convinced, enjoy our gameplay video.
The rest of the winners from the 15th edition of the IMGAs
In addition to the three main categories, there are various other awards that have turned this year’s IMGAs into a huge celebration for the medium. Not only will you find the typical awards for graphics and soundtrack, but there’s also plenty of room for all different elements that matter in this world of games. And if you’re still thirsty for more awards, don’t forget to check out our favorite games of 2018.
