No doubt about it. PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (yes, it’s written in caps) is the trendiest game on PC these days, even boasting the record for most players playing simultaneously on Steam with the ridiculous figure of 1.3 million. A few savvy developers obviously jumped right on the job of creating clones and spinoffs to capitalize on its success, and they certainly haven’t neglected Android gamers: here we list five of the best free games inspired by PUBG.
BattleGround Royale
The Minecraft-style blocky look is one of the main resources in the games we’re going to present. BattleGround Royale offers the same gameplay as the title it’s based on, except that the number of players on the battlefield is limited to 30. Its main trademark is that, to speed up the touch controls, the shooting happens automatically when you focus your sites on a target. You can even send messages in a global chat for all players. Players Unknown Grand Battle
Another one with the same aesthetic as Battleground Royale but with even better graphics, plus a minimap, which not all of them have. Grand Battle’s also got a better array of weapons and items scattered around the level, as well as more nooks and buildings to take cover in. [Download]
BATTLE ROYAL : Survival Island
Real talk. Survival Island turns to more realistic graphics, though its main difference from PUBG is that the action happens in first person. Beyond that we’ve got the standard huge setting where you have to emerge as the sole survivor among the 20 participants. [Download]
Grand Battle Royale
Though it also uses the block pixel aesthetic, for a lot of people Grand Battle Royale is the best game on this list thanks to its many possibilities in terms of the equipment you can get. From melee weapons to sniper rifles, the endless ways of eliminating your rivals make each game a fantasy experience of indiscriminate death. [Download]
Thrive Online
And here we have the most shameless clone – and perhaps for that reason the best of all of them. Thrive Online has some more than decent 3D graphics, a third-person camera, and the same rules and vibe as PUBG. In this case the player limit is 24, but the feeling when jumping out of a plane in your boxers is inimitable. [Download]
[…] BATTLEGROUNDS as a cohort of clones have appeared virtually overnight. We’ve already made a list of five alternatives to PUBG on Android, but Survivor Royale (also known as Wilderness Action) takes it to a whole new level. This new […]
