Less than a week ago we had mentioned that the release of the new version of iTunes was going to happen soon–and starting today it is now completely available. Unlike other minor updates, this time its interface, which for too long had been behind the times, basically has gotten a makeover.

There have been many versions that hoped to improve the most recent versions’ iffy usability. Without going into too many details, the options sidebar on the left has been made smaller and moved to the top. Regarding the audiovisual content, they have made the album covers as the basic way you browse through music. Now, searching for content, whether in your own library or on the online store, is much more intuitive and enjoyable.

Also, they have created a more intimate relationship between your library and the online store, allowing you to quickly jump from one to the other, and providing more streamlined search results that are better related to your profile.

Another one of the improvements we were hoping for is a multimedia player that, although integrated, can be used in a separate window completely independent from that of iTunes itself. Ultimately, it is a version with two fundamental ideas: simplicity and clarity.
