If we’re talking about manga/anime, we’ve gotta talk about Dragon Ball. The legacy of Akira Toriyama lives on and his show continues to make an impact to this day. Yesterday was Goku Day in Japan (the kanjis the represent the numbers 5 and 9 are read as “Go” and “Ku”) and we didn’t want to miss the chance to pay tribute to this legendary series by putting together this list of the best free Dragon Ball games for Android.
Dragon Ball Run
Unofficial games occupy a nice niche on Android where you can find madcap mashups that work brilliantly – among them this endless runner where you have to deal with tons of villains from the first animated series of Dragon Ball. And it’s no walk in the park, either. The good part is that there’s more to it than just dodging enemies – you can also move through the setting and attack with your stick. A proper challenge with cute retro graphics. [Download]
Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle
Action and strategy go hand in hand in this spectacular game where you can experience a new adventure with the Dragon Ball characters. A real oddity of a game that you can tell knows the mobile platform inside and out, with its mix of genres that works terrifically well as you put together a deck with the different characters in the series. Plus you can tell it’s an official product due to its high production values. Probably one of the best Dragon Ball games to be found on Android. [Download]
Super Dragon Warrior
This platformer ain’t bad at all, thanks to its smooth and remarkable character animations. Though most of its settings and villains have little or nothing to do with Dragon Ball, the characters are there, and so are their special powers. This is a fun game with a rather basic gameplay, but you’re sure to enjoy a small adventure with Goku & Co. [Download]
Dragon Ball: Conquer Korin
We’re looking here at a cute endless runner where a young Goku must get as high as he can in the mythic tower of Karin. You may even shed a few tears of nostalgia when you think about one of the most memorable stages of the series. The gameplay is simple, as you can only climb the left or right side of the tower while dodging the horde of enemies coming at you, Toi Pai Pai among them. As you collect magic greenbeans you can use other items along the way that help make things a bit easier for you. [Download]
Power Level Warrior
This fighting game is inspired by the work of Akira Toriyama though it doesn’t have the cast from the show. Instead it uses an extremely similar character design to seal the deal in this outstanding title that we just couldn’t leave off this list given how terrific the quality is. The influence of Dragon Ball permeates every nook and cranny of this game and plus it’s got a second part that keeps up the same quality level. [Download]

Hyper Dragon Ball Z
We could do another article entirely about Dragon Ball-based games available for PC, but instead we’ve opted to give a special shoutout to a tremendous project. Hyper Dragon Ball Z is a fighting game developed with the MUGEN motor that looks spectacular and has the great merit of creating all the characters from scratch, which is rare for games like this. The project gets constant updates, but it’s perfectly playable right now. We highly recommend you give it a peek as it’s a truly magnificent game. [Download]
