Have you ever heard of the collectible card game Dragon Ball Super? Well, if you’re a fan of this popular manga and anime series, then you’re in luck—Bandai Namco has confirmed that it will release a digital version of the game in 2023. That’s right, a Dragon Ball Super Card Game video game is coming soon. There’s still a lot of information that hasn’t been disclosed yet, but we do know many details that have been revealed so far. We’ll tell everything we know below:

What is Dragon Ball Super Card Game?

Dragon Ball Super Card Game is the digital version of the famous collectible card game from the series featuring Goku and friends. It’s a game that’s currently being developed to be released sometime in 2023, adapting its turn-based combat, card collecting and deck management to a virtual environment to be played on PC and smartphones (not yet confirmed). Everything suggests that it will feature spectacular graphics, battlefields inspired by iconic Dragon Ball settings and 3D cinematics, as you can see in the first trailer:

How is it different from Dragon Ball Super Card Game Tutorial?

There’s currently an app available that lets you learn how to play the Dragon Ball card game. It’s called Dragon Ball Super Card Game Tutorial, and it’s available for free for phones. What does this app have to do with the game that will be launched in 2023? As explained by those responsible, the app that’s available is only designed to learn how to play and doesn’t allow players to play online, buy cards or edit decks. However, these features will be included in the mobile game that’s coming out in 2023.

On which platforms will it be available?

For the time being, the official information from Bandai Namco does not specify on which platforms the digital version of Dragon Ball Super Card Game will be available, although some promotional materials do seem to confirm that it will be released on computers, at least. It’s understood that it will also reach mobile devices, like what happened with the tutorial app, but nothing is confirmed yet: we’ll need to wait for the company to share more information.

When will Dragon Ball Super Card Game be available?

This is another big question fans want to know: when will we be able to play Dragon Ball Super Card Game? Usually, in cases like this, there tends to be a prolonged release, with test versions being offered before its worldwide release. We know it’ll arrive sometime in 2023, but we don’t know exactly when. What has been confirmed is that more information about the game will be announced at the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour event, which will take place on March 4 and 5. Perhaps its release date will be revealed then, but we do know that it’s not going to be before that date.

Will there be a beta prior to release?

Yes, Bandai Namco has already confirmed that Dragon Ball Super Card Game will have a beta before the final version of the game is released. That said, they’re talking about it being a closed test, which means that you’ll need to have an invitation in order to access it. Nothing has been said yet about the conditions for receiving the access pass, although it usually requires some kind of pre-registration. In any case, what is confirmed is that we’ll be able to try the game out before its official release.

Will the game be free?

It’s almost completely certain that Dragon Ball Super Card Game will be free to download and install. This is another detail that Bandai Namco has not yet confirmed, although we assume that they’ll go for a free-to-play model that doesn’t involve paying for the game but only for the purchases made in it—most card games use this system, so it would be strange if this game were any different. However, we have to wait for official news to confirm it.
