At this point everyone and their mother is familiar with Lonely Planet’s travel guides. It’s probably the most recognizable name for extensive information about travel destinations. They’re an indispensable complement to any trip, and now they’re even better with Trips by Lonely Planet, a new app that’s a kind of social media network for discovering and sharing travel experiences.

Trips by Lonely Planet

We first heard about Trips by Lonely Planet back in August of 2017 when the app first came out on iOS. We’ve had to wait quite a while for the Android release, but it was worth the wait. It could be said that this app is the polar opposite of Instagram, since instead of being used to share moments, it’s used to create stories about personal trips that reflect real life experiences.

Trips by Lonely Planet doesn’t want to be a compendium of guides for travelers, but rather a place where anyone can share their stories. Photos and videos are prominently displayed in the stories, but the text is equally important. Each one is uploaded by users, and that’s what makes this app so special. You can discover stories through your timeline, which shows stories from the people you follow from your profile. Of course, you can also search for them by browsing through categories.

Reading and sharing stories is easy, but making new ones is too. You just have to write your text, choose some photos and videos, add maps, and that’s it. The interface is very intuitive and easy to use, and all of the finished content is beautifully displayed. The blog format lives on!

Trips by Lonely Planet

There is much to rejoice about the arrival of Trips by Lonely Planet on Android devices. It’s an ideal app to enjoy reading travel experience from people all over the world, as well as to share your own experiences. It’s an interesting social network that covers a spectrum largely ignored by other networks.
