In the last year, audio has become a clear trend in social networks. The thing is, using your voice helps to break the ice and makes it easier to establish relationships with other people. There are already several apps on the market for meeting people using voice, such as Tiya or Sango, the smartphone app we’re talking about today.

The live voice chat feature is at the heart of Sango, but the app also comes with other social and entertainment-focused tools, including interactive games, group chats, and the option to meet and chat with people who have the same interests as you.

How does Sango work?

Before we talk about Sango’s main features, it’s worth mentioning that the app is not available in Spanish (in case that happens to be your native or preferred language), but you can configure it in English.

Sango is a social network that lets you meet people individually or in groups, and you can also do things online with them, like play games or share your favorite music.

Sango is completely free to use, but you just have to create an account using your Google, Snapchat, or Facebook login information before you get started.

Once you’ve done this, you’ll be able to access your profile, where you’ll find all sorts of customization options for others to start getting to know you. You can describe yourself with words, add your preferences and hobbies, and share photos, videos, and links. Your profile will also display the trophies and badges you earn in your online games.

To further facilitate interaction between users, Sango gives you the option to join one of its three tribes (lion, eagle, and shark). This “tribe” system offers users a tool to start up conversations with other users, giving you something in common with other users right from the get-go. Plus, in the games, users can choose to become a chief, elder, or civilian of the tribe.

Search for people or audio chat

In Sango, you can search for people Tinder-style— that is, by swiping your finger across the screen and browsing between profiles. However, in this case, you don’t have to wait for the other person to like you back. You can send them a direct message to start up a conversation right away.

In the app’s main menu, there’s also a section called “Moments” where you can post or view the posts of people you follow, as well as other people that Sango recommends to you based on your interests.

But if there’s one thing that characterizes Sango, it’s the group audio chat rooms, of which you have two types to choose from. One of the options is called “Party Room”, where you can have laid-back chats with other people.

You can access these rooms through a list of popular or recommended chats or through the private invitation of another user. You can also create new rooms and invite friends or wait for others to join.

Lastly, you have the Game Rooms, which are chat rooms with online games in which up to eight users can take turns playing. That said, if you don’t feel like playing, it doesn’t matter— you always have the option to join the room to simply see how others play.
