It’s been a while since EA put a new iron in the fire with its popular basketball saga. Since NBA Live 2010 all that has appeared have been editions of questionable quality that take it increasingly far away from the throne, which since then has been snatched away by the NBA 2K series. Seeking to expand their horizons, EA has just released NBA Live Mobile for Android, revisiting their formula to adapt it to mobile devices (although one was already released a few years ago) and incorporating the familiar Free-to-Play model.

From the start we have a very decent basketball game with five-on-five games that could well be a title from a previous-generation console. That said, the games are wrapped up in a complete manager and online community in the purest FIFA Ultimate Team style, with trading cards for the players and daily events of various kinds with which you advance in the season and improve your stats.

The touch controls for the games are quite gratifying and let you make all sorts of plays, despite the albatross of playing a game like this on touchscreens. This, together with very decent graphics and the official license from the best basketball league in the world, make NBA Live Mobile unmissable for those global fans who will stay up into the wee hours in front of the TV to catch the playoffs.

NBA Live Mobile 1.0.6 is available on Uptodown in APK format and can be installed and played on any device (although it’s official release is temporarily limited to Canada).
