The famous fighting games of the Mortal Kombat saga are making the leap to mobile devices with a project developed by NetherRealm Studios and edited by Warner Bros. That said, it’s coming at us with a new idea that’s completely different from the gameplay we’re all used to: it will be based on team battles with the famous characters of the franchise. It’s set to arrive in 2023 and we’re going to tell you what the minimum requirements are to play Mortal Kombat: Onslaught on your phone.

What is Mortal Kombat: Onslaught?

Mortal Kombat: Onslaught is a new installment of this famous fighting saga, although this time, instead of going for a traditional combat style, the game offers team action with RPG elements. You’ll control a group of characters, which you’ll choose from more than 30 classic Mortal Kombat fighters, including Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Johnny Cage, Jade and Kitana. You’ll use their powers to fight in massive battles in real-time, both against enemies in the game and against other players.

When will Mortal Kombat: Onslaught be made available?

Although the Mortal Kombat: Onslaught APK is already available to download for free on phones, the game is still in development and there is still some time to go before it’s officially released for iOS and Android devices. At the moment, it hasn’t been confirmed exactly when it will be available, but we do know a general release date: it’s set to come out sometime in 2023, so at least we won’t have to wait until next year to play it. Currently, NetherRealm Studios is conducting tests in specific markets.

What are the minimum requirements to play Mortal Kombat: Onslaught on smartphones?

To play Mortal Kombat: Onslaught on your phone, it’s important to keep in mind that, as with any game, your smartphone needs to meet certain minimum technical requirements in order to run it smoothly. However, since it’s still under development, the minimum characteristics that the game requires have not yet been established, as they may change until it’s launched officially. What is certain is that you will need to have at least Android 8.0 on your device, as well as at least 1.5 GB of storage space available (which is what the additional data occupies). More information will be shared eventually, including the required RAM and cores.

Will Mortal Kombat: Onslaught be free?

There still isn’t a whole lot of information about Mortal Kombat: Onslaught’s business model, but it’s practically guaranteed that NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. are going to offer it completely free of charge. Most likely, it will be free-to-play, with a free initial download and a game experience that doesn’t require any payments to play, although it may feature micropayments, battle passes and ads. We do already know that we’ll be able to collect resources and unlock upgrades, which is usually accompanied by this type of acceleration mechanism. It’s also been confirmed that there will be some kind of random reward system, such as loot boxes or bonus packs.
