The world of web browsers on Android is pretty immense, although in general, we tend to use only the most renowned. That doesn’t mean there’s no room for those looking for alternatives; something that Xiaomi seems to have discovered with the release of Mint. This browser from the Chinese company intends to become a fixture on devices with less resources. That’s exactly why Mint stands out for its minimalism in its design and size: approximately 10 MB.

The instant you open the new Xiaomi browser, you’ll find a home screen full of icons. Here you’ll see typical websites along with some promotional spaces for the brand. These shortcuts are completely customizable, but the best part is that the instant you select one of these icons or enter a URL, everything goes extremely smoothly. The pages load perfectly and you’ll clearly start to discover why we call this browser ultralight and fast. What’s more, you can make it even faster if you activate the ‘reduce data usage’ option to avoid loading images. This is especially useful for areas where Internet connections aren’t the best.

Mint isn’t all that different from other browsers. If anything, it’s all much cleaner due to the elegant interface it offers, but you won’t miss too many things in respect to other Android browsers. That said, it’s not exactly an app that shines for its customization options or add-ons like Chrome or Firefox. With Mint, you’re going to find the bare minimum, which isn’t exactly a bad or a good thing: it’s the perfect browser for anyone who wants a no-frills browsing experience.

Mint Navegador

The arrival of Xiaomi to the world of browsers has left us with a good taste in our mouths. The little space it takes up and its excellent performance are its two biggest achievements, but it’s not a browser without options: it has a pop-up blocker, night mode, tabbed browsing, incognito mode, and more. We couldn’t ask for much more from this browser designed for low-range devices. For now, it doesn’t have any ads, so we look forward to seeing how it evolves in 2019.
