One of the most relevant social networks of the last decade is Tumblr. This blog space is a hodgepodge of content where anything goes: video, microblogging, images, text, audio … a countercultral space that’s been a refuge for posts that probably wouldn’t have otherwise fit in with the rest of the social networks of the world. And sadly, it seems that its era is coming to an end, like what happened to Myspace back in the day. For this reason, we’ve gathered a couple different ways to download content from Tumblr blogs so it’s not lost forever.
Download Tumblr content to Android devices
If you want to have the images, videos, audio, GIFs, and everything else safe and sound on your Android, all you have to use is Timbloader, a tool that lets you easily download content. Of course, you need to have the official Tumblr app in order to download the content. Once you have both apps installed on your smartphone or tablet, you have to open the Tumblr app and browse through it until you find the content you want to download. There, you have to tap the send/share icon (the first one you see under the posts) and choose the option that says Timbloader.
As soon as you share the content, Timbloader will open with the post you sent. Next, all you have to do is tap Download, which appears in the lower part of the screen, and you’ll have it downloaded instantly. You can repeat these same steps as many times as you want and it works perfectly for posts that have various elements, as well as multimedia content that you can’t normally download from Tumblr. If you want to see everything you’ve downloaded through this app, all you have to do is tap the first button that appears in the upper right corner (the one that looks like a diskette). There, you’ll see list with all the content you’ve saved and can view it from there or delete it directly.
Download content from Tumblr to a computer
If you want to have all the content from a Tumblr blog on your computer, then there’s nothing that beats TumblThree. This free and open source app is the third and, for now, the final version of a powerful tool that lets you download all the content from a Tumblr blog: photos videos, audio, text … even comments and tags of different posts. You can backup any page as long as it’s not private. All you have to do is complete the following steps:
- Download and run TumblThree.
- Enter the URL of the Tumblr you want to download in the box found in the lower part of the application.
- Select the type of content you want to download, as well as the specific number of pages of the Tumblr in question. If you want the entire blog, just leave the “Download Pages” fields blank.
- Click on the button with the magnifying glass that says “Crawl” and the program will start identifying the Tumblr you’ve indicated.
Anyone who’s ever used any sort of download program before will have no problem getting the hang of this intuitive interface. Plus, you can download more than one blog from Tumblr at a time; all you have to do is repeat the same steps with each one.
