It’s hard not to enjoy the complicated story of Attack on Titan and hum along to the anime’s incredible opening theme song, but now you can do something much better: play through the story right on your smartphone. Attack on Titan – Dedicate Your Heart is a new game based on the first season of the anime Shingeki no Kyojin. It’s time to dawn the uniforms of the 104th Training Corps.
Attack on Titan – Dedicate Your Heart lets you jump into the story created in 2009 by Hajime Isayama and popularized in the West by its spectacular anime adaptation. You’ll live through all of the misadventures of Eren Jaeger and his relatives during the assault and demolition caused by the attacks by the mysterious titans. All of that is condensed into a fun RPG with fantastic graphics that are worthy of such a great show. It makes sense, since mobile gaming giant Tencent is behind the project.
The most outstanding aspect of Attack on Titan – Dedicate Your Heart is its incredible combat system. Although gameplay is quite simple, it’s also super fun: you have to tap on certain parts of the screen as if it were a rhythm game. Although it’s completely unrelated, it reminded us of the fantastic title Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! or Elite Beat Agents. The more precisely you time your hits, the more damage you’ll deal. Plus, there are all kinds of characters and each of them has their own special attacks. Between battles you can follow the original Attack on Titan story and intervene in certain moments with QTEs.
Attack on Titan – Dedicate Your Heart has all of the typical Android MMORPG elements (leveling up your squad, improving stats, recruiting characters with a Gacha system, etc.), but the original combat system truly makes it stand out from the rest of the crowd. And really, how often will you get the opportunity to fight against the Colossal Titan, the Armored Titan, and all of the other titans in the great anime adaptation of Shingeki no Kyojin? Granted, for now there are no western language options available.
