Sick of endlessly shooting zombies? Of building the perfect city? Of tapping the screen nonstop to be the world’s best fill-in-the-blank? If you suffer from one of these symptoms, never fear – we have the antidote. Choices: Stories You Play is a giant catalogue of dialogue-tree adventure games where every choice you make leaves its mark on the story.

Choices: Stories You Play

Choices: Stories You Play is an app that works as a sort of jumble of adventure stories that all boast a conversation-tree gameplay. You’ve got all kinds of stories to play, so we can’t put any labels on the plots. The narration flows smoothly, no yawns to be found anywhere. I’ve personally gotten hooked on the medieval adventure you can start out with. That said, do keep in mind that the tropes are manifold and anybody who’s done the teensiest bit of reading in the medieval-fantasy genre will know what happens next. But it’s still hard not to get addicted anyway.

This addictiveness springs from the fact that every decision counts. In proper Telltale style, the characters won’t forget any of the actions you’ve done, and you have to pay attention to what’s happening onscreen at all times. An example is a situation that arises in the medieval adventure: a guard robs a royal ring from the main character and (spoiler!) later you get asked to identify the guard by the helmet he was wearing. As I wasn’t paying enough attention, I ended up sad and ringless.

Choices: Stories You Play

Choices: Stories You Play is a highly enjoyable experience. Though in most of its stories there are whiffs of Harlequin romance novels, there are other things that make it worth the effort to delve into this popular title even if love stories aren’t your thing. Plus your characters don’t live by decisions alone – their choices may also lead to your getting more or less power throughout the adventure you’re playing based on the prestige or allies you accumulate.
